one look into those dead eyes
and you know where she has been
trapped in life, her memories hold tight

fast friends we were arm and arm
becoming lovers as the summer deepened
sweetness filled our days
so long ago but I can not forget

in my mind I see you so clearly
as if it were just yesterday
I hear your tender voice calling my name

I have lost you and regret much
as the years pass I think often
