Fissures

her pale lined face
fissures on a cliff side
carved deeply on thick coarse skin
time had been with her and about her
like new clay, tweaked, molded

she had become a map with
ice blue veins, her roadway of life
once pretty with hair black as night
falling to her slim wast

one look shows bitterness, pain
one look into those dead eyes
and you know where she has been
trapped in life, her memories hold tight

I feel that one. I am in need of air. So well done.

Very nice... moving combination of image and words. The map of blue veins is especially good, makes one think of blood vessels splayed out like interstates.

The utlimate fissure-ing! Poignant and powerful.
