as if stranded on a lost island
the copse stood in the wheat field
a dark brooding patch among golden grains
old as memory, the stand waiting
watching for the seasons to pass
one into another still and silent
some bent with the tricks of time
others tall,thick__multi-colors of green-black
leafy shelters for birds by day
with the suns demise
their sturdy tangled branches now__
a spider web for lost souls trapped within

Those lost souls never to return!
B.D, I like it a lot. I will only visit in the daytime, if then.

It is nice to see you back here, I am sorry about your other blog. I've been told to copy everything I have ever written. That is a lot of work??

Haunting piece - your ability to write feeling is much admired!
I imagine a big, merciful dream catcher.
Lovely, vivid description, makes for great poems.. I thought this a had a hauntingly wistful tone to it.. a splendid read...
Melanie, this is the last day am around if you need help registering for the autumn haiku blog, you signed in only to "summer" you have to sign in to ALL of them. That is, also once for spring, summer and autumn, each.
there is a haunting beauty in these vivid lines. this dark patch shelters and remembers what has been lost.
