on our backs,eyes wide
we watch the milky way spin
incandescent lights

It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!

Beth, I love to watch the stars as they travel in the black of night.
Thanks for stopping by.

Melanie, I love it! There are thousands of those 'incadescent' lights out there.
I finally stopped laying on my back watching. I would watch for shooting star displays on nights when they were predicted to occur.
Out in West Texas that was such a peaceful thing to do and the stars were super bright.

A star filled sky has such a draw.
Beautifully evocative of clear skies and spectacular stars. Eyes wide - a vibrant vision.
There is bliss in witnessing "eyes wide." This haiku evokes that bliss. Thank you for making it.
Been there, done that, and loved it. Nice poem.
ah, this piece makes me long for the summer nights when we can do that. Lovely.
this reminds me when i was a little girl living in the mojave desert....where the stars come all the way down to the earth at night.
having traveled with a backpack generation many a night i did exactly that... thank you for the reminder...
