My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!

Beautiful words...I had a similar thought process with my submission this week.
Those angels sure can capture the pain.
Hello, this poem is filled
with tears...oh but lovely tears.
Melanie, I really like this one - it speaks to the past, present and future with such wonder.
This is lovely. The tears are lovely in their sorrow,
Talk of angels and I find it all so beautiful..doesn't matter if it comes out of sorrow sometimes.. that too is beautiful..loved your take on the prompt..
Well haven't seen you visiting my page for quite some time.. what do you say...
Thanks so much "daily athens" for reading my work. Angels are very special to me. I am glad you liked it.

Ramesh, so sorry I haven't been to your site. First it was the very hot summer that keep me off line as we do not have central air. Then I spent a week in hospital. I will be stopping by today. So happy that you liked my work.
Melanie

"built from sorrow's tears"...wow, great line. Sad and haunting "where once love did bide..."
Much thanks SBS. I am glad you liked my poem. I somehow always think of graveyards angels when I think of monuments.
Melanie
I love stone angels, there's a mystique about them that I cannot explain. Yet you have captured the essence so well in your Haiku.
CE, thanks again for your kind comment. Glad you liked it.
