is it a dream
that silent flash
behind our eyes
lingering still
with the morning light
a bit of darkness from
our souls
dreams, masters of
nights sweet call
fill our hearts and
minds, a double blind
nightmares roll by
dark clouds
that rain down their fear
as dead leaves fall
night walks it's beat
vivid images turned real
magic horses up and down
merry go round ever
spinning it's web
but we are free
once morn's light
creeps to fill
the dark places
what was that, we might ask
as a black shape flits
across our vision
just a dream, a fragment
of night and time

Thank you for providing sight to a night dark time.
A good Sunday for you.

This is brilliant Melanie. I especially love the first verse, so much meaning here. Many have that little bit of darkness within them that sometimes causes them to question their goodness, or light. Often this surfaces in those few moments in the mornng when we aren't yet awake, but not fully asleep either. That border land between dreams and awakening.
I also love how you take haiku-type themes/feelings and roll them into a longer piece. Sometimes I read haiku and wish that it kept going a little longer. I'm so glad this poem was longer than just the first verse :)
Beautifully written about dream..liked the way you used the words :)
Beautiful writing. You reach down to your soul when you write..
Great Job
Hope to read more

I believe dreams mean something/to tell us something and often carry mine through the day. I am liking this, you.I am liking the softness and yet the dark aspect too; interlinking.
Much thanks d.a. for stopping by and reading my poem. So glad you enjoyed it.

uma.a, glad you stopped by. Dreams are funny things. Sometimes you can't tell which is dream or real.
