birds sway back and forth
above the blue ocean
crying out a sad call
waves respond to their rhythm
back and forth the foam rises
all is lost in wind and rain
mystical forms ride the tides

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!

As always, your poem reads like a dream Melanie. Beautiful!
Hi Melanie ~~ There's a video of a murmuration of starlings in flight going around on the internet and the blogs. They fly in waves over the ocean waves just like your poem. There are a lot. I can't see how there could possibly be food for all of them.
They birds will come another day after the wind and rain and foam subside. (My happy ending.)

Thanks The Write Girl, so glad you liked my poem.

Hi Jim, how are you? I have never seen the starlings in flight over the the waves. It sounds beautiful. I will have to look for the video. Glad you liked my poem.
I am still in a great deal of pain with my broken shoulder and upper arm. Wish it would go away.

What a wonderfull poem, so touchy and full of something I would call spiritual energy.
