Sun Clouds

on warm sun drenched days
lazy hours pass one by one
fragrant blooms keep time
where no time exists

eyes blink as in slow motion
the sleepy earth stretches and yawns
laying in a hammock, swaying with the breeze
idle thoughts, your mind drifts

trees gather around you whispering
sleep child sleep as leaf shadows dance
breathing in memories of summers past
a sigh rises from deep within your soul

eye lids grow heavy, dreams reach out
weaving clouds, trapping, caught in the past
where love lives yet again, love unearthed
drowsy, content with afternoon sun

drifting, drifting slowly crisp air meets body
once more cold returns to grip the heart
silence surrounds silence, darkening visions it pulls,
it eats away your woven conjures, deluding reality

only to awake deep in winters tides of snow
snow that covers the garden and clings to skin
pallid dry skin, cracking iced lips, parted in protest
all under pale gray skies turning dark

Wonderful wonderful... you paint a dreamscape with your words here. I like how you explored the ins and outs of such a day, how it's never just one thing or the other. Thanks for this!

From the warm to the cold, from the light to the dark the words are still whispering in my ears...

Relief of dreams and realisation of reality - nicely penned.

‘a sigh rose from deep within my soul’ reading your poem.It seemed to evoke in me a very similar acquaintance with the ‘yawning earth’ and an experience of 'breathing in memories of summers past’.I loved your poem.Thank you.

I feel as though I have wandered through many seasons, such is the power of your words.

Melanie, this is wonderful. Just as I remember. Except the cold never awakened me back to real life. A misquito or fly, perhaps.

I remember the last time, it was in Mexico. The breeze and the waves against the rocks and sand sang their songs while I dreamed of wherever my mind would go.

Thank you. I liked especially the way you portrayed the hard rude awakening,
"once more cold returns to grip the heart
silence surrounds silence, darkening visions it pulls,
it eats away your woven conjures, deluding reality
"

Yes, your getting tired of cold and snow was a really good inspiratioin for you. Sorry 'bout it though. (I played golf here again yesterday. We can play year round.)

From warm to cold, this plays against time, life and fine slices of reality. Love it!
