Hiku Heights

fresh smell of new mown hay
brings back whiffs of summers glory
yet the wind howls and grips my soul

autumn, in all its splendor
creeps slowly in my heart
another fall without you

These are very poignant. The emptiness is pervasive.

Yes, there is sadness here, especially in the second piece, but somehow I think that there is also a deeply held joy. Or fiercely held. Yes, fiercely.

Yes, I think there is a stray of light that glimmers as all seasons pass. I like the contrasting images of the wind howling and the slow creep and the smell of new and its splendor. Hope you have a happy Autumn Equinox!

Thanks for visiting my way, Melanie. Be in touch. :)
