3WW

a universe of chaos reins
the spark is lit__
matter engages life
bright light disarms darkness
from within__earth if formed

Blue Flowered Mug......

Hours had passed
it seemed like weeks
"the letter sat before him,
unopened, propped against a coffee mug"
her mug...
a blue flowered one she always used.

He felt rather then knew, the house was empty
with vacant eyes focused on the pale lavender envelope
reading two words...
over and over
dear one
dear one.

Still__as the loud silence around him
he sat on an old sofa dazed and numb
dear one__dear one
what more was there to say
not unspoken words or hidden feelings
with the coming dusk, dread lay heavy
on his thin bent shoulders.

Why, came his soft whisper to the darkening room
later as the sounds of night made music...
he remained locked in narrow chambers and
mirrored hallways of the past__their past.
he wondered aloud, if he never moved the mug
never opened the letter...
never read her words
would time move backwards
would he hear her laughter
singing through the house once more?

Never opened
never read
no pain
no sorrow

Chello Opus 49

eyes closed
his nimble fingers
caress each worn string

hands weave flutter__
up and down the scales
back and forth,the bow flies

as a low mellow sound resonates
magical silver notes__
float rise above cement shadows

streets of broken dreams

pure soft bitter sweet patterns
whispered murmurs fill the heaviness__
of life,wasted,trapped on cold pavement

such sadness__
such sadness
channeled in the hollow night

Two Poems from The Phoenix Rises

Something is wrong with my new longer poetry site. I must delete it and start again.

How Many Bells......

how many times must the toll
how long will it take to forget
how many spirits roam this scared ground
trapped within this blackened earth
how many must die across the sea

too many,too many__so long gone

The Phoenix

majestic bird of myth
broad jeweled wings
soar high enigma of time

born in ashes
gift to man
shadows evenings red orange sun

flashing, sparkling
violet green against a twilight sky
fly free, free__just a little while

as the earth pivots, your binds released
free free__just a little while
till time and heaven decree

spin rainbow sparks
a spiral downward dance
skimming tree tops and seas of gold

only to burn in wheels of color
hot flames within the melted sun
burnt black your only mark

just a little while__
then once more rising
from black remains to fly again

free of earths nature__unbound
sweet angel wings magical sojourner
rise high__fill the cool moon mist

echoing cries of pure joy
from ashes comes forth the bird of Eden
free forever more
