Wind Chimes

the wind chimes each day
calling to the beloved
long gone from this earth

The first time I ever saw wind chimes in a cemetery, I was a bit startled. But now, I think they add a lovely--and loving--touch. I think you're on to something: The chimes are the voice of the wind, maybe even our own voice, calling to the beloved departed (or the departed beloved!).

Is this an accepted phenomenon? A friend of a friend told me that before her mother died, they made an agreement that her mother would make the large wind chimes kept indoors ring after her death. She said her mother did it too!
